DALE CITY, VA (March 19, 2019) – ExperiencePoint, an award-winning training company that helps people learn, experience and apply design thinking, was named The Association of Learning Providers’ (ISA) 2019 Business of the Year at its Annual Business Retreat Awards Dinner, held in Scottsdale, AZ. The designation recognizes the company’s financial success, innovation products and services, market position and workplace culture.
“ExperiencePoint’s emphasis on ‘courageous candor’ and ‘saying what needs to be said’ has clearly fueled its success as ISA’s 2019 Business of the Year,” says Pam McLean, CEO, Hudson Institute of Coaching, and Chair of the Awards Committee. “And the firm’s spirit of candor, humbleness and generosity were all on display when their leaders shared the company’s journey of growth with ISA members, along with some valuable lessons learned along the way.”
ExperiencePoint develops inspiring and hands-on design thinking workshops, guided by experiential technology simulations, to equip leaders, teams and organizations with the capabilities they need to innovate, tackle real-world and complex business problems and to transform their businesses. Developed in collaboration with IDEO, a leading global design company, ExperienceInnovation’s suite of products give participants the instruction, structure and safe space to learn, experience and apply design thinking.
Many of the world’s most innovative and successful companies have used ExperiencePoint’s training to drive innovation, culture change and transformation at scale. These customers, a number of whom were interviewed as part of the research for the award, praised the team as being not only responsive, reliable and supportive, but also “delightful,” “attentive” and “true partners.” Principals and co-founders James Chisholm and Greg Warman emphasize that the team and culture have been key to the company’s success, adding that, while they are driven by learning and growth, they also stress the importance of finding a balance with family, life and fun.
“ExperiencePoint uses three criteria for recruiting — hungry, humble and smart — and those are qualities you can find in every team member, starting at the top,” says Pamela J. Schmidt, Executive Director of ISA. “As one client put it, ‘Why would I recommend anyone else when I am already working with the best?’”
ExperiencePoint joins previous recipients of the Business of the Year Award as Intrepid by VitalSource, Center for Creative Leadership, Power Speaking, Pivot Leadership, VitalSmarts, Crisis Prevention Institute, Acumen Learning, Management Concepts, The Ken Blanchard Companies and DDI. According to Schmidt, the Awards Committee selects the winner based on the firm that reflects the best balance of five defined criteria: Financial viability (indicators that reflect healthy and sustained revenue, operating income, etc.); recognized products/services by clients (verified contribution to client performance); positive organizational culture (employee-friendly, development- oriented, high employee satisfaction levels); customer service/client satisfaction; and respect from colleagues and industry recognition for its body of work.
